Description
June 16, 1981. AMF sold Harley-Davidson back to a group of investors including Willie G. Davidson, the grandson of company co-founder William A. Davidson.
To mark the occasion Harley-Davidson released a limited serie of 1000 Ironhead Sportsters. Each one sported black paint and a discrete purple glare clearcoat topped of by acidulous decals on all tins.
Each “Limited Edition Series One” XLH had a unique number decal on its tank.
Rust is Gold Co. reproduced these tank decals for the first time since 1981.
For obvious reasons none of the 1 to 1000 numbered decals will be remanufactured. Instead we’re continuing the numbering from 1001.
Each reproduction kit includes the huge tank top eagle, side trims and a unique numbered top badge.
